Azrael

Azrael

The name is spoken
To paupers and kings
The circle is unbroken
The angel sings

The child at the wishing well
The old man in the park
All answer to Azrael
Come unto the Dark

Where the driftwood never floated
Comes the star of Death’s sweet song
Where the long dead corpse has bloated
Blessed as the day is long

Come unto the masses, Azrael
Release us to the stars
You can these ghastly rumors quell
In your joy bring us ours

Hark, the herald angel sings
A tale the traveler spins
He then accends on feathery wings
birds with beaks and fish with fins

The cities burn in cleansing fire
Beneath the sky so red
The king, the fool, the thief, the liar
Some were great and all are dead

In the heavens we shall stand
Heart to heart and hand in hand
In our death, peace to bring
Hearken as the angels sing
