Blackened Rose
Blackened Rose
There once was told a tale of woe
Of Blackened Rose the widow-maid
She would play you for a fool
Sweet Blackened Rose the widow-maid
She courted me for weeks on end
Tempted me witha cruel facade
She drew me out beyond my mind
Sweet Blackened Rose the widow-maid
She told me that her heart was pure
She told me I was her true love
She told me lies for weeks on end
A crow in the shape in the dove
We walked together on the heath
And there beneath the stars we laid
She put her hand in mine and smiled
Sweet Blackened Rose the widow-maid
She drew from in her bodice tight
A blade both long and steely sharp
She pressed it to my heart and smiled
"My love, I played you like a harp"
"My love, you foolish giddy thing
You thought that you had got it made
My love, tonight I fear you'll die
By Blackened Rose the widow maid
My love, your breast cries for the knife
And tells me to strike true
My love, say one more prayer and then
Bid this mortal frame adieu"
She struck hard and she struck true
Determined that my life should fade
She pierced my heart and took my life
