Demise Of Erato

Demise Of Erato

Erato grows callous and cold, her wanton ways at last beginning to take their toll, and she feels her sweet and poisonous flesh grow heavy and languorous as she takes another corrupted innocent draped in lustful poppies and virginal dreams of roses not yet bloomed.
In her embrace hallucinations blossom, their petals growing beautiful and bitter in the sickly luxury of silken pillows lined with sighs and feverish swollen hands.
She lies on her sweat-stained sheets, her putrid lips engorged with the tender kisses of another night spend in the clinging arms of a shadow soaked in cheap wine and ink and opium, while she clings to her bedposts in pain as the thorns of her own bittersweet rose dig deeper into her thighs.
Her lovers come and go, dissembling and cold, their only heat the blood they spill into the sinister embrace of ragged and destitute syringes that torment their veins with longing.
There is a corpse that lies, open wounds still beating, bleeding over the asphalt where she lies. She was a whore, cheap and threadbare her lipstick only adorning the collars of ragged and coarse roistering fools with a little cash to spare. Still she lies beaten and bleeding, a poet walks past her mangled body, and in her bruised and haggard face, the poet sees the lover from long ago
The intoxicating rose-tinted goddess of fever dreams
Erato

Beneath A Cloudy Sky

Beneath A Cloudy Sky

Beneath a cloudy sky I walk alone
My thoughts my only company or friend
Beneath another sky I found my home
But 'neath these clouds, here will my journey end
Within a stranger's eye I found my heart
Now this same stranger walks alone with me
It seems as if she's been there from the start
Beneath this cloudy sky that no one sees
Beneath a lonesome moon I found my love
And in the ardent stars I see her eyes
They watch me from the ebon skies above
And will away each tear that I have cried
Beneath a cloudy sky I found myself
But still I wander on despite myself

Kleiner Vögel

Kleiner Vögel

Blood and feathers
Scattered across the indifferent pavement
A trail leading to a small and unmoving bird
Its snow white feathers stained with its sanguinity
And the filth of passers-by
Who saw it chocking and broken in its last moments
And never thought to offer help

Never thought to dry its tears for a little while
Offer just this small comfort until it slipped away
Never thought that this one might live a little while longer
Fly a little higher
Before the Earth reclaimed her wandering child

Its blood is growing cold
And its fragile heart is fluttering to a reluctant stop
I reached down and closed its eyes
Taking my hand away with drops of blood on my fingers
And I closed my eyes and cried
For this little bird

A Sonnet

A Sonnet

We've spent too long apart, my love, too long
Too many nights spent beneath the pale moon
I've heard too many times a bitter song
And longed so many nights to see you soon
You took my hand in yours one cold twilight
And there we stood beneath the dark'ning sky
In that instant became I yours, day and night,
Through the passing of years until I die
By the blessed moon, I am ever thine
While her pale face watches over this land
And while she for her sun-drenched lover pines
So I long for the touch of your sweet hand
Without you by my side my heart grows sore
My friend, my love, my muse forever more
