Half-Asleep, Trying To Remember The Name Of An Oscar Wilde Character

And now for something completely different...

Half-Asleep, Trying To Remember The Name Of An Oscar Wilde Character

Lady Something-or-other
What was that dream you were having
About a cat, and a house you used to live in
And a girl you love
She was smiling
She said something once
From The Importance of Being Earnest
Lady Blackhead?
Blackwell?
Bosworth?
You can't remember
You lie on the futon, groggy
It is the same colour as the inside of your eyelids at twilight
Deep and comforting red
You continue to wrack your brain
Blackworthy?
Boswell?
The overbearing aunt
That you remember
Algenon's aunt Augusta
You start to sweat, worrying as it slips further from you
What if you start to forget everything
It will start with a familiar play
And spiral on and on
The house in your dream
You spent 11 years there
What if you forget that?
The girl
You could never forget her
You keep grasping at images from a production three years ago
Blandwell?
Brandyworth?
The girl
The two of you talked about doing the play once
There are only 11 or so characters, she said
You could be Algenon
I'll be Lady...
Lady...
Lady...
Bracknell.

Lack Of Oxygen

Lack Of Oxygen

Although my arms aren't very strong
They'll never do you wrong
Although my words are far from new
They're always for you
Although there's not much there to give
I'll give you myself as long as I live

Without you there's a total lack of oxygen
Filling my lungs and beating in my veins
I need to be able to hold you tonight
Before the both of us go insane
I need to breathe through your mouth
So at last we can solve the riddle
I need to hold you so close to me
That there's a lack of oxygen in the middle

Although my hands are weak and small
I'll help you stand tall
Although I'm not there late at night
We can make it right
Although I'm not much of a man
If you give me your heart I'll be all that I can

Without you there's a total lack of oxygen
Filling my lungs and beating in my veins
I need to be able to hold you tonight
Before the both of us go insane
I need to breathe through your mouth
So at last we can solve the riddle
I need to hold you so close to me
That there's a lack of oxygen in the middle

Although my heart is young and frail
It is yours without fail
Although my love is strange, it's true
I'll give it to you
Although my songs used to be not so sweet
The love in your eyes can make them complete

Without you there's a total lack of oxygen
Filling my lungs and beating in my veins
I need to be able to hold you tonight
Before the both of us go insane
I need to breathe through your mouth
So at last we can solve the riddle
I need to hold you so close to me
That there's a lack of oxygen in the middle
