Weary

Weary

The river glints away
Shining to the distance
Another quiet day
Another debt to pay

The wind blows through the trees
Singing very quietly
Another lonely sea
Another melody

The ocean crashes on the shore
Washing stones of sorrow
Another song I've heard before
Another closing door

The noose swings on the scaffold high
Dripping with remorse
Another soul is here to die
Another wondering why

The forest sleeps beneath the moon
Somnambulant and mumbling
Another night will die here soon
Another lifeless tune

Oceans Apart

Oceans Apart

I lie awake another night
And weep away another day
Without you my heart's torn to pieces
So close, but yet so far away
A wretched ocean lies between us
And I lack the wings to fly
Across this tawdry sea of evil
But if you ask me to I'll try

I would swim this hateful ocean
Lying twixt us for a while
I would bleed an equal ocean
If I could only see you smile
In nightmares fierce and never-ending
I reach out across the sea
On the shore you call my name out
As the waves devour me

In the twilit clouds of evening
I can see your deep grey eyes
Thinking of you through the hours
My fallen heart begins to fly
In the moon that shines above me
I see your face and haunting smile
When your eyes meet mine in laughter
Eternity is but a while

In the wind that ruffles treetops
I hear your voice, you call to me
I try to find you on the shoreline
While I curse the vicious sea
In the grey and lonely rivers
I can see your cloudy eyes
Across this barren, cursed ocean
Here without you my heart dies

Eulogy For My Love

Eulogy For My Love

You're crying again
Your last distraction left for the last time
And the smokescreen drifted away
You stood there
Tearstained eyes and bloodstained arms
Waiting for the rain to stop

Please don't do this again
If I ever was your friend
Don't go for the knife again
It's not going to feel any better
When the alcohol sets in

You're dying again
Your last attempts have failed
As the blood was washed away
And you told me
You told us all it wouldn't happen again
That you'd hold on
And not go for the bottle again

Please don't let the poisons in
If you ever heard my voice
Don't tear your veins again
The pain won't go away
Not this way
Hold on a little longer
Hold on
